It’s happened twice so far, but sometimes when I’m really good and the stars align, and we’ve got a couple of Big Bang Theories to watch on the DVR (pizza and Big Bang is kinda a thing for us), Danny makes homemade pizza from scratch! We were unable to get to the pizza specialty store, but good thing HEB has enlarged their organic section and Danny was able to get just what we needed. He found just the right items to make his own pizza sauce, as well as dough.

Because pizza alone isn’t good enough for a meal that comes out of Danny’s Kitchen, he crafted an amazing salad starter. Spinach, arugula, Neal’s Valley Stilton blue cheese, Bosc and Bartlett pears, tomatoes, mushrooms, peppers, olives, cranberries, walnuts, and cashews drizzled with lemon juice and imported Greek olive oil.

The salad was hand delivered by my personal pizza boy to the couch. This salad combines many of my favorite things and mixes sweet and savory just right.

After a few hours and watching Danny get the hang of the dough toss, two wonderful pizzas made their way to the table…oh yeah, the couch…who am I kidding. The first one had pepperoni, organic beef, olives, peppers, fresh mozzarella, and Parmesan.

Our favorite pizza of the evening (to Danny’s surprise since he says he usually doesn’t like vegetarian pizzas) was the arugula, spinach, peppers, basil, tomato, mozzarella, and feta. It tasted very fresh and the feta gave it an added kick.

Feta is definitely a pizza topping to try. Good thing Dominos makes this easy for the average pizza lover to do just this. They have a Pacific Coast Veggie Pizza that is unlike most vegetarian pizzas you get at chain restaurants. I order it with a thin crust and they pile on roasted red peppers, spinach, onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, black olives, feta, and provolone cheese. It’s the most uniquely flavored vegetarian chain pizza that I’ve found. They also have a new spinach and feta Artisan pizza that is equally tasty.

Even if you don’t have your very own pizza boy in the kitchen, at least you now know where to go to try something new and delicious in your own town…it’s just a phone call or a click away. It’s all I can do….I have no plans to share Danny anytime soon. Finders keepers.

Where to Go/What to Order:

Dominos Pizza:
1. Pacific Coast Veggie pizza on this crust
2. Spinach and Feta Artisan Pizza
