When my husband and I are in the mood for seafood, there is no debate about where to go. We find ourselves at Daddy Jack’s, where the romantic lighting, good service, and superior food all culminate to a wonderful evening. This Friday we were fortunate enough to have, Kristin (sister #3), join us.
I insisted that Kristin try the Field Greens and Blue Cheese salad. It’s a must every time we visit. The sun-dried tomato, hearts of palm, walnuts, and delicious dressing is a flavor combination I find myself craving from time to time. Knowing that Daddy Jack’s is known for their chowder, I knew I could not go one more trip without trying it. I usually try to choose a salad OR soup, and in this case, I could not stand the thought of skipping the salad. So there was only one thing left to do…order the soup also and boy am I glad I did.
The clam chowder was so tasty I wanted to ingest every last drop. Clams were cooked perfectly, not too chewy so I didn’t even have to make the difficult decision…swallow whole or do an embarrassing quick spit into a napkin. Whew. Sure it’s gross, but I know I’m not the only one that has this issue from time to time. My teeth can only do so much.
We ordered 3 entrees, Danny had been salivating over the Seafood Paella since we got in the car and was pleased that it was one of the specials of the day. Kristin chose the red fish special with basmati rice and kalamata olives in a cream sauce. She absolutely loved this dish by the way! I think the basil cream sauce is what made it wonderful and she really liked the taste of the kalamata olives blended in with the other ingredients.
My thought was to try one of their tried and true recipes for a change, so that if I adored it, it would be readily available on the menu any day. The Pecan Breaded Rainbow Trout with fried shrimp and dried cranberry tartar sauce is definitely a dish to return for. The tartar sauce should be bottled and marketed so all fish can have a chance to be dipped into it’s glorious goodness. I will be thinking of you, delicious tartar sauce.
Just when we thought we couldn’t possibly eat anymore…
Daddy Jack’s menu is so good it’s hard to choose wrong. If in doubt, their chef’s daily specials are always worth a try. Sometimes hearing the server describe the delicacies helps to get your taste buds and imagination going. The restaurant likes to help you celebrate life’s special moments and offer incentives for coming in on your birthday or anniversary. They also entice you to come in on a Monday thru Wednesday for a great special on lobster. I will definitely be back for that.
What to Order:
1. Pecan Crusted Rainbow Trout – it’s a great dish for seafood lovers and novices alike, as it’s kind of lightly “fried” and comes with tartar sauce. It is now a favorite of mine.
2. Seafood Paella – great for when you want to try a little of everything on top of awesomely seasoned rice
3. Field Greens and Blue Cheese Salad – it’s the perfect start to a great meal
4. Key Lime Pie – After trying all of their desserts, this one is the BEST. Trust me. You’re welcome!
